SEVENOAKS councillors have joined forces with website for parents Mumsnet to improve care for families who suffer a miscarriage.

Mumsnet believes its code of care could reduce the trauma caused by the one in four pregnancies that end in miscarriage.

Councillors Alison Cook and Michelle Lowe met the website's representatives to discuss the code.

They also visited Tunbridge Wells and Darent Valley hospitals' maternity wards to see if it has been implemented.

The pair, whose initial findings suggest that care in both hospitals is good, will report to the council's Social Affairs Select Committee on January 22.

Cllr Lowe said she would welcome feedback from parents in Sevenoaks who have suffered a miscarriage.

"We need to know if our local services are good, in which case they need to be maintained; or bad, in which case they need to be improved," she said.
